While the safari is breathtaking enough and the Indian ocean a magical retreat there are a few excursions and trips that you might like to include in your itinerary.
Flying across the Serengeti, Tarangire or any Tanzanian National Park is simply a breathtaking experience. The silence is only punctuated by the occasional blast on the burners are the skilled pilot glides you across the plains and animals scattered below, oblivious to your presence.
The day requires an early start, around 4am, when it's still dark and you will lift off around sunrise, around 6:30am. After an hour or so, it is time to descend where you will be me by the ground crew for a champagne breakfast in the bush.
Each flight is a different journey dictated by the direction of the wind, where the sights and sounds rise from the ground to meet you. We know where we’ve started but we don’t know where we will return to earth. This is part of the adventure. Sometimes the basket will be gently brushing the tips of the grass and then climbing, climbing through the layers of air until you’re high enough to see the curve of the horizon, painted gold and pink by the early sun. The Safari Blue Experience is an unmissable day excursion exploring the protected waters of Zanzibar. You will be transferred to the beach where the mahogany traditional Dhow boats will be waiting and fitted with snorkels, masks and flippers. The camp has views over the local acacia trees and out to the far-off hills. It is close to the Elerai River and the Maasai bomas. In the evening after dinner you can unwind at the fire pit area, where you can share all your safari tales and experiences or perhaps hear from some of the team.
The inn is a charming country estate that was once an old coffee farm, and still retains the nostalgic air of a well-loved homestead. Sprawling ten acres of fertile greenery, the grounds are a natural extension of Mt Meru’s sloping foothills, and offer a sanctuary for the birds and wildlife indigenous to the area.
